Farne Islands visit

26 08 2017

Managed to get back up to the Farne Islands again this year. Lots of Puffin’s amongst all of the other birds. The Artic Turns were in full dive bomb mode, terrifying I find it but keep going back as they are such a wonderful location. Not to mention the delight that is Bamburgh Castle and it’s beautiful beach.

Enjoy.

Grumblings of a web developer

27 08 2010

Well its taken quite a while and a lot of slow methodic gentle developing but I think I’ve finally got my website into some kind of semblance. The design has had small incremental changes but last night early morning had a total rewrite and you know what its starting to look something like.

Now it’s not a flash (perish the thought) or flashy javascript bonanza but a ground roots simple html/css website – well it should be…

As I’m Mac based (and have been since ’88) I use Safari and Firefox to do the majority of testing to make sure it works, so far so good, but then comes that major, MAJOR thorn in the side of every (proper) web dev, IE 6,7 and 8. Well what can I say:- it don’t work.

For such a simple website you’d think that everything would be hunky-dory but nooooo, if only it was so simple.

Well for the time being, if you want to look at it properly use Safari, Firefox, even Chrome, but the buggy pain in the r£@r IE (at least 6 or 7) just forget it for now.

I know there are people using these browser because my google analytics shows me they are. On the plus side at least its advancing, if somewhat at a snails pace.

My good friend John’s website after its redesign has started to see a good amount of regular traffic and he’s been producing some great model portfolios.

Grumblings over for now!

Steve

General update

19 04 2010

Well it’s only a few days to go to the Whitby Goth Weekend and I’m hoping, as I’m sure a lot of people are, that the weather is going to be nice and sunny. I’ve treated myself to an ebay special, an 85mm f1.8 lens, so this is the first outing of this lens and I’m looking forward to getting some really sharp photos with the new lens.

Work is progressing nicely on the new website and while not as far along as I would have liked it should be up and running in a limited fashion for Friday (fingers crossed).

My good ol friend John has been busy in his studio and taken some wonderful Portfolio photographs and while it’s a bit premature, as I’m his webmaster I’ll post a sneak preview link here.

Anyway, a further update probably on Monday with some WGW photos on here and for sale on my other website.

Cheers Steve

If you’ve had a look through my photo gallery you may have notieced more than an unusual number of lighthouse photographs.

The reason…

I’ve accompanied John on several of his trip while he was taking picture for his book. If you have a look in John’s gallery you can find lots more lighthouse photos.
