New Plymouth

12 06 2016

Just found this post in my drafts folder. Oops. So I’ll post it now.

This was a few years ago now. After a few days in the sea front town of New Plymouth with the Taranaki volcano dominating the background I finally managed to get one or two of the elusive beast.

Although the skies were clear blue about our heads there always seemed to be a small clump conveniently perched right about the peak. The weather provided a few breaks in the clouds but it didn’t let up much.

Along the walk on the sea front I came across an interesting boulder that to me had a natural formation that I thought resembled the South Island. At the other end of the walk was this magnificent bridge, the ‘Te Rewa Rewa Bridge’

Back to Wellie on Wednesday for a couple of days before departure again.

More photo’s after the break!

Through the window

13 12 2012

I’ve been looking through some of my New Zealand photographs the last couple of days looking for suitable photos for this years xmas cards.

Here’s another shot from one of my favourite places in NZ, Lake Tekapo. This one is looking over the lake from inside the warmth of the YHA there.

Kapiti Island

13 11 2012

I love walking on this beach watching the sun set over Kapiti Island. It’s such a calm and tranquil place for me, and one that I miss very much along with my friends who live here.

Under the sea…

Not really, but still was nice to see this turtle swimming around at the New Zealand’s National Aquarium in Napier.

Starry Starry Night…

14 11 2011

Here’s again an unprocessed JPEG from the raw file. This time from the top of Mount John at Lake Tekapo. A simple five minute exposure with my 17mm lens.

Something to warm you up after the cold Whitby weather on the Saturday.

Here’s a sunset taken from Paraparaumu beach New Zealand. It’s a straight jpeg conversion from the RAW file hence the wonky horizon and not quite sorted highlights and shadows.

Winter Wonderland

17 08 2011

I’ve now arrived in Te Anau from Queenstown and it’s wonderful. We’re having a strong southerly weather front brining lots and lots of chunky snow flakes. It’s giving a nice covering and creating a magical winter wonderland.

A remarkable day at the Remarkables.

Here’s a few photo’s from Queenstown and The Remakables ski fields.

Port of Wellington Map

This beautiful map of Wellington can be found inside the Museum of Wellington City & Sea. A true hidden gem amongst Wellington’s many attractions. Well worth a visit.
